The icy moon, Europa, is enveloped in a tenuous, surface-bounded exosphere primarily composed of molecular oxygen, but it also features a distinct population of atomic sodium (Na) and potassium (K). These alkali species are of particular interest because their strong resonant scattering of sunlight makes them effective tracers of surface processes and interactions with the surrounding Jovian magnetospheric environment. In this talk, I will introduce Europa’s exosphere and the recent ground-based alkali observations during the Juno’s Flyby (doi:10.3847/PSJ/adeb52).
